Autodesk releases Alias 2017 “through the years” videos: the 50s and the 70s

Cadillac Eldorado

The latest version of Alias was launched earlier this month and what better way to announce it than with decade-themed videos?

The 1950s

The 1950s were a classic era for both entertainment and automotive design. Greased hair, leather jackets, poodle skirts and chocolate malts were in. Big fenders, bright colors and comfortable backseats were what made this decade timeless. We threw it back (way, way, way, way back) to the good ole days when Friday nights consisted of drive-in movies and a soda pop from the soda fountain. ‘What film is playing,’ you ask? It is a horror film, of course.

See for yourself how we’ve taken the horror out of the automotive design process:

The 1970s

The next reel brings us to the 1970s when life was all about peace and love, and the music was groovy. We all knew how to have a good time, enjoying each other and celebrating the beauty that life had to offer. 50 shades of brown on everything. Bellbottoms, afros and colorful shirts were “in” and when it came to cars, the bigger the better.
